This tennis courts in Idaho saw little down time these past few months despite the cold winter months some of us saw. As the state population continues to grow, Idaho was just ranked the second fastest growing state in the country. Needless to say, this translates into many more tennis players playing in the state and a very robust tennis scene for clubs, tennis professionals, USTA, and communities.
The busy Idaho Spring tennis season will start off with the Boise Racquet and Swim Club hosting the USTA Men’s National 55’s Indoor Championships from April 29th-May 5th and the USTA Men’s National 50’s Indoor Championships from May 4th -May 9th.
Additionally, on February 16th and 17th, the USPTA Intermountain Annual Conference will be held at the Lifetime Fitness club in Centennial, Colorado. We hope to see many of you there but if for some reason you were unable to attend, please consider putting it on your calendars to attend next year. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain educational credits, learn from many of our discipline’s experts and meet your fellow professionals. Please don’t hesitate to contact me any time for additional information. You can reach me on my cellphone (208)514-6162 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On a very sad note, we saw the passing of Lloyd Williamson, a very special and cherished, long-time Treasure Valley tennis professional. Lloyd was known amongst the tennis community as a very patient, encouraging and extremely dedicated tennis professional and a mentor to the students he taught and coached over the years as the Nampa High Tennis Coach and past tennis professional at the River City Racquet and Fitness Club and the Boise Racquet and Swim Club. He will be sorely missed by the entire Treasure Valley tennis community and we send our sincere condolences to his family, friends and tennis students.
